Philippe Quint
Grammy Award-nominee violinist Philippe Quint captivates audience with his charismatic presence and “searingly poetic lyricism” (Daily Telegraph, UK). His début recording of William Schumann’s Violin Concerto(Naxos 8.559083) was nominated for two Grammy awards, including one for best soloist with orchestra, and also named as Editor’s Choice by both The Gramophone and The Strad. His World Premiere Recording of John Corigliano’s Red Violin Caprices and recording of Bernstein’s Serenade (Naxos 8.559245) also won Editor’s Choice by The Gramophone magazine and CD of the week by The Daily Telegraph. Other critically acclaimed recordings include Ned Rorem’s Violin Concerto(8.559278) and works for violin and piano by Miklós Rózsa (8.570190). He has been nominated twice by the Royal Philharmonic Society (UK) as Instrumentalist of the Years 2006 and 2008. His recent and upcoming appearances include solos with Komische Oper Berlin Orchestra, Weimar Staatskapelle, New Jersey, Detroit, Bournemouth, Melbourne, Minnesota, Houston, Indianapolis, China National Symphony’s, Cape Town Philharmonic, and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra under the batons of Carl St.Clair, Marin Alsop, Andrew Litton, Jose Serebrier, Kurt Masur, Jorge Mester, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Marco Parisotto, Daniel Hege and Martin Yates .He has appeared on CNN, ABC, NBC, Reuters and Bloomberg TV stations. A former student of Dorothy DeLay and Cho-Liang Lin at the Juilliard School, Philippe Quint took top prizes at the 1998 Juilliard Competition and the Sarasate International Violin Competition. He plays on a 1723 Antionio Stradivari violin on loan to him from Clem and Karen Arrisson through the generous efforts of the Stradivari Society.
Stephanie Myers
Mrs. Myers is currently first violin of the EPSO outreach quartet and the LCSO outreach quartet, associate concertmaster of the Las Cruces Symphony and El Paso Opera orchestra. Dr. Meyers is a former member of the Portland Symphony, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Symphony Pro Musica, and Atlantic Chamber Orchestra. She is on faculty at the American Festival for the Arts in Houston and the Bennington Chamber Music Festival and Composer’s Forum of the East in Bennington, Vermont.
Matt Herskowitz
Pianist Matt Herskowitz is a unique new voice from within the nexus of classical and jazz traditions. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School, Matt is a brilliant young jazz pianist, a stunning interpreter of the classics, and a composer of vast range and originality. Unwilling to divide himself into different musical personae and bewildered by the arbitrary segregation of jazz and popular music from the classics, Matt prefers to expound on their essential unity, combining them into a new mode of expression.
Mat Fields
Mat Fieldes is one of the most sought-after bass players on the New York freelance scene today. Equally comfortable in Jazz, Rock, Hip-hop, R&B, and Classical genres, Mr. =Fieldes has collaborated with such luminaries as Joe Jackson, John Cale, Ornette Coleman, Steve Vai, Peter Erskine, Paquito D'Rivera, Kristjan Jarvi, Joe Williams, Arturo Sandaval, and Toni Tennille among others. His recent appearances include Dream Engine – the latest performance group for legendary song-writer Jim Steinman. In 2001, he performed on Joe Jackson’s album, Symphony, which won a Grammy Award for “Best Pop Instrumental”. Mr. Fieldes was born in Hastings, New Zealand. He earned his Master’s degree from The Juilliard School where he studied with Eugene Levinson, Principal Bass of the New York Philharmonic.
David Rosenblatt
David Rozenblatt’s talents have drawn him to all corners of the globe and all styles of music, performing in the world’s most revered concert halls as well as intimate nightclubs. He has performed and collaborated with some of the finest talents in Pop, Jazz and Classical and is currently performing with Barry Manilow with whom he can be seen on A&E’s Live By Request, PBS’s Soundstage, ABC’s Good Morning America, The Ellen Show, The Society of Singers honoring Elton John, BBC Television, The Jerry Lewis Telethon, and currently in his hit show Music and Passion in Las Vegas. David received his Bachelor and Master’s degrees from The Juilliard School, where he became a founding member of the critically acclaimed New York Percussion Quartet. He also leads his own Latin jazz band, Latin Jamzz, featuring prominent musicians as guest artists.
Nathaniel Rosen
Mr. Rosen achieved international stardom as the first American cellist to win a gold medal at the Tchaikovsky Competition, shortly after winning the coveted Naumburg Competition in 1977. Since then, he has performed with the New York, Los Angeles and Czech philharmonics, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Philadelphia, Minnesota and Dresden State orchestras, and the London, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Dallas, Houston and Vancouver symphonies. Mr. Rosen began cello studies with Eleonore Schoenfeld and continued with Gregor Piatigorsky. He has recorded several discs on the John Marks label, and teaches at both the Manhattan School of Music and the Meadows School at Southern Methodist University. He plays a 1738 Montagnana cello.
David Leisner
Mr. Leisner has appeared as a soloist with many internationally renowned orchestras, including the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Berlin Radio Orchestra, Australian
Chamber Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonic, New York Chamber Ensemble, and the Chamber Orchestra of New England. About his Piazzolla
performance with the Atlanta Symphony, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that "the audience reacted in a frenzy that nowadays, few Beethoven or Bruckner concerts can generate." Also in great demand as a chamber musician, he has performed chamber music at the Santa Fe, Rockport, Vail Valley, Cape and Islands, Bargemusic, Bay Chamber and Angel Fire Festivals, with Eugenia Zukerman, Kurt
Ollmann, Lucy Shelton, Ida Kavafian, the Vermeer Quartet and many others. David Leisner is currently co-chairman of the guitar department at the Manhattan School of Music and taught at the New England Conservatory for 22 years.
Dena Kay Jones
Dena Kay Jones has performed as soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and in Spain, Mexico and Canada. Solo performances include recitals at the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Music Concert Series (Canada) and the For the Love of Music Series in Bisbee (Arizona); an appearance as soloist with the University of Arizona Symphony and University of Texas at El Paso Symphony and Choirs; and performances for pianists Emanuel Ax and Peter Serkin at the 1998 Tanglewood Auditions, Leon Fleisher at the 1999 Aspen Summer Music Festival and Russell Shermann at the 2000 Summer Courses in Santander, Spain. She offered her New York Debut at Merkin Hall in March 2003 and participated in the Festival Internacional de Música de Tecla Española (FIMTE) of Almería, Spain in 2007.
In addition to maintaining a widely varied repertoire from the traditional literature, Ms. Jones has focused her energies in the performance of Spanish piano repertoire. In particular, her interest in this music has led her to focus on lesser-known Spanish works written from 1900-1950. Her debut album entitled Luces y Sombras (Lights and Shadows): Piano Music of Joaquín Rodrigo was released by Centaur Records in October 2007.
A native of the Central Illinois area, Ms. Jones received the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in piano performance from the University of Illinois. Her principal teachers were Lydia Artymiw, William Heiles and Andrew DeGrado. Dena Kay Jones completed the Doctor of Musical Arts program at the University of Arizona, where she studied with Nohema Fernández. She joined the music faculty of the University of Texas at El Paso in 2002.
